I recently watched a presentation from the well known marketing gurus at e-marketer.  The question?  When will we return to in person events?  It was really interesting as they laid out the information they had gathered.

One thing that seemed rather obvious, is that last year, in-person events were replaced by virtual events:

One poll they had conducted indicated that it will still be some time before the majority of US businesspeople feel comfortable attending in person events again:

But what was perhaps most interesting to me was the notion, that even after people start attending in-person events, virtual events are likely to continue:

Which means that events will need to focus on a virtual event strategy going forward–even if they plan to return to in-person events as soon as possible.
